Any advice on how to deal with a family member getting cancer?

I just found out that my mom has duodenal cancer, and I'm feeling mad, sad, nervous, worried, and stressed. I know she is a fighter and can get though this, but it's hard.

These people are sugar coating it. It will be hard to deal with the loss of your mother but you can find comfort in the fact that she will be sent into the black abyss. No hate, fear, happiness or love will find its way to her again. The best thing for you to do is to start preparing a eulogy. She won't get through this, you may go broke but hey, atleast you get to live

It's hard to give advice without knowing more about the situation. How old is she? How old are you? (Are you are 50 year old adult and your mother is 80? Are you 15 and your mother is 40?)

How advanced is the cancer? (Stage 4 cancer has a poor prognisis, localized cancer has a pretty good one.) What treatments will she be doing?

In general, be supportive and loving but don't hover. Offer what help you can, whether that means doing more housework or taking her to appointments.

Sorry to read you're facing up to this.

Maybe think that she's still the same person as she was before the diagnosis and that now that they have worked out what's wrong, the doctors can work on that without a load of second-guessing any more. Quite a lot can be done using Argon plasma to help treat the lesions, various tablets can be given to reduce the severity of the symptoms. It is always important to believe that the drugs stand a good chance of working as that way you get the Placebo Effect plus whatever the drugs themselves do (praying also gives something like a placebo effect).

Accept the end. She's facing a survival rate under 30%. Enjoy every ******* second you have with her. Cherish her, love her, support her, talk with her. I lost my mother to cancer in high school. I haven't been the same since that day. Something inside me clicked. I felt like this world was against me.

It is hard but remember that it's possible to beat cancer and professionals (doctors) are trying their best to help.
