Can't think of anything to write that's not cringe-worthy for my short story. Any ideas?

What are your life experiences and what topic you can write on about for long while?

Good topics fall into few categories but it is most helpful to have some background knowledge in the subject:

A hero's journey - just an everyday human trusted into extraordinary situation where he has to prove his worth through feats of amazing bravery, sacrifice or something.

Downfall - a study of someone once recognizable or even heroic whom fell on hard times, still possessing all of their skills from that era seeking path of redemption, but ultimately only finding their own demise.

Character study a look into someone's character often through challenging circumstances or loss of some sort of pillar of their existence (loved one, job, hope).
