Solar cars are test models only, they don’t recharge they run directly on sunlight.

Hybrids vary widely the Volt is electric but uses a small motor to directly recharge the batteries, it has a rage of 420 miles.

Moderate sized fuel powered cars have a similar range.

The first electric cars had much shorter range’s but that was years ago, current models like the Kona have ranges more like 300 miles, which seems to be the aim of a number of new models from VW, Audi, Porsche, jaguar. Tesla’s model S is meant to be more affordable and has a range of 240 miles. The Nissan Leaf has a range more like 110 miles but that was not very popular.
