Is it worth being a full-time employee, as opposed to a part-time one?

I’m currently taking a gal year between high school and college for medical reasons. I’m considering working at Old Navy. I live in Colorado, and I’ve just read that you’re  only required to work 32 hrs/wk to be considered full time. So, what kind of benefits do you get as a full/time employee at a chain store? I see that at a lot of places, you get stuff like vacation time, and paid leave for medical issues. But I can’t imagine Old Navy would offer paid time off to hourly workers. Whadya think, is it a lot better to be a full-time employee, or just maintain some time to do absolutely nothing? I realize now that this is just a paragraph convincing myself to get the job, so I’ll award best answer to anyone who puts a good amount of effort in.

    Full-time workers can qualify for a lot of benefits unavailable to part-timers, after they complete their probationary period (usually 90 days, in some cases, 180 days). Full-time workers are often eligible to enroll in employee health insurance plans. This is particularly important for you as you are no longer a student & may no longer be eligible to continue on your parents' health insurance. You need to check this out with your parents rather urgently!

    Other possible benefits include accruing annual leave (vacation), which you can start taking after a year from completing probation. You may also accrue paid sick leave time. Retailers often offer employees an employee discount on purchases. Some large companies offer discounted bus tickets so employees can use public transit, or assist in linking employees for carpooling, etc.

    Every company has different benefits, different methods of calculating accrued vacation & sick leave, etc. Your employer will let you know what benefits they offer & when you become eligible to get them (usually upon satisfactory completion of probation). If you work part-time, you get zippedydoodah.

    I believe you get at least 24 hours of paid sick days by law. Any vacation time is up to the company's discretion.

    The good thing about working full time is that you get steady hours so you'll never get less than 32 hours per week. But it's not as flexible as part time so if you go back to school, they might not be able to work with your schedule.

    With part time, they can give you however many hours they want. You can have 30 hours one week and get 8 hours another week so it's unpredictable. If you have bills to pay, it might be good to get full time for that steady income. But if you're just looking for side hustle, part time will be great and not too much on your plate.
