Is this some form of arthritis?

So every so often my fingers or toes will swell and get really tender. Not the whole digit but just part of it like between the joints. I've been told it could be arthritis by a nurse at my allergists office. I asked her because the skin itches so much around it. When I look up the symptoms of arthritis I don't see itching as a symptom. Anyone heard or have had anything like this? I'm in my mid 30s if that helps any. Thanks in advance!

Quite possibly. Itching is a common symptom of rheumatoid arthritis.

It can be a kind of arthritis but we cannot tell you as that diagnosis comes from an evaluation that includes family history, medical history a physical exam and diagnostic tests like blood work and or imaging. Ask your doctor. I am a doctor and thats what we are here for.
