Does a pot of soup get nasty as fast as a pot of applesauce?

    Anything gets 'nasty' if its left out long enough.

    A pot of soup is likely to grow bacteria that can be very dangerous. A pot of applesauce is more likely to grow fermented and grow alcohol.

    If it is left on the stove top at room temperature for hours yes it will get "nasty" But so will any "potentially hazardous" food.

    After you have finished the soup portion it out and refrigerate or freeze the left over soup.

    Cool rapidly.
