Captain Cook wasn't a Geordie (aka from near Newcastle in Northumberland), he was born near Middlesbrough, so technically that would make him a "Smoggy", then made his way down to Whitby to learn the tricks of the trade before he went on to do the being a famous explorer thing.

Alaska was first explored by Bering sailing for Russia. No idea what a Geordie Caption is
