Why does Ray Bradbury use hands in particular to manifest Montag's growing consciousness and desire to gain knowledge?

Katey, there is so much on the internet about this that I find it hard to understand why you don't just search something like 'Bradbury, Montag, Hands'.

And, Fireball, interestingly the first book Montag steals in that brilliant story is a Bible. You should try reading it one day, it is a warning against a world ignorant of literature and knowledge.
