Who is your villain?

You are the protagonist in vour life. Your life is a story. Every good story has a strong Villain, (Captain Kirk had Khan, Superman had Lex Luthor, Neo had Agent Smith, John McClane had Hans Gruber)

Everyone is so caught up in the politically correct era of getting along and coexisting that we have forgotten how natural and healthy it is to have a nemesis. Other than Trump, which everybody claims to abhor even if they never met the guy, who is your villain?

Your lower nature is the protagonist of your higher self. Dark against Light,  emotion oppressing logic.

Are you storing scandal to sell to the tabloids? Why should I tell you when you did not tell us who your villain is?

My life is no one's property but my own.

My personal villain is my toxic mother. I don't find it natural or healthy at all. The past 6-8 months have been particularly stressful, I've even had to up my daily painkiller dosage.

I could write a lengthy answer, but the details are not important, and there are plenty of articles online about toxic mothers. Suffice to say that I've taken the high road for almost 30 years, ever since I moved out. In hindsight, I should have cut her off 20 years ago when I first considered doing it, but now she's old and needs my help for certain things, and I really am not the horrible person she seems to believe I am and seems to enjoy making me out to be. In fact, she's extremely lucky to have me.

Not every story requires a villain. Villains are fine for fairy tales and comic books, but not everything in life is so simplistic and black and white. Stories that contain a villain incorporate such a character because that person serves as the driving force of the conflict. That's what every story needs - conflict, and conflict doesn't need to be another person. A person can struggle against another human being, against nature, against society, against himself, we don't always need to put the blame on somebody else and to make somebody out to be the bad guy, because it's pretty unrealistic to think that you're always going to be the good guy. That might be your limited point of view, but guaranteed there are people out there who naturally saw themselves as the good guy in interactions with you and naturally that means that they saw you as the bad guy. And some still might.

The stories you mention here are just silly romps for cartoon characters, science fiction or mindless action flicks. You can't base all of the stories in existence on a few modern examples that were all created in the same country. My life is not some silly episode that gets resolved in 2 hours of run time, and I've lived long enough to know that people are bound to face different problems at different stages of life. If you're 5 years old and your villain is the big, scary dog that lives up the road or the school bully, fine. But if you're a grown man and you're convinced that another human being is the villain in your story, it's past time for you to get yourself sorted and grow up.
