Did you know that pit bulls are actually friendly dogs?
They’re actually one of the friendliest breeds that are around. They love people, they love attention and they love affection. They are sweet dogs with some of the friendliest personalities in the world, and they just love everyone. This is why they don’t have many enemies, and it’s why everyone loves them (except the people that don’t know much about them).

Of course they can be sweet and friendly. They can also snap in an instant for no apparent reason and can't be trusted. Years ago my roommate and I were dogsitting a pit bull for a while. She was a great big sweetie and a total love, and would sleep on my bed with me and my two dogs. She got along with the other dogs just great. Then one day for no reason whatsoever, she bit one of my dogs on the face and drove his fang through his lip, then continued on like nothing ever happened. Another day she attacked my roommate's dog for no reason whatsoever and ripped a strip off his ear. After two attacks I told my roomie she has to go, so she had to wear a muzzle while we found her somewhere else to live. On the day we were loading her up to take her to her new caretakers, she attacked my dog again for no reason whatsoever. He was just standing there. So as friendly and loving as she was, she proved to me that pit bulls cannot be trusted.
I also used to work with a coworker who still had a scarred, disfigured face from when he was mauled by a pit bull when he was 3 years old. He'd been through numerous surgeries throughout his life to fix it but he was still disfigured. Granted, that could have happened from any dog, but there again it was a friendly, loving family dog who snapped like a bipolar patient.

The dog on "Our Gang" was a Pit and never mauled any of the kids.

It depends on their breeding and upbringing.
I know tons of people really love this breed, but personally I just don't like them. I don't like the look of them, they look "threatining" to me. That's just my opinion.

Yeah, especially when they're young. As they get older their fighting instincts become more pronounced and they become more dangerous and unpredictable. There are many pit bulls that are affectionate with people but aggressive towards other animals. Any pit bull that is aggressive towards other animals is still a risk to humans as they can re-direct on to people, even their owners who they love dearly. Their instinct to kill is simply too strong for them to ever be completely safe around any living being.

Yes. I work with many pitbulls every day. They are super friendly and loving dogs. I've hardly met any nasty ones.
