A parachutist is falling at a constant velocity of 10 m/s when they drop a gourd. If the parachutist is 20m above the ground when they drop it, how fast will the gourd hit the ground?

    Height (h) = 20mInitial speed (u) = 10m/secFinal speed (v) = ?Acceleration due to gravity (g) = 9.81m/sec²Using kinematic relation:-v² = u²+2ghv² = (10m/sec)² + 2 x 9.81m/sec² x 20m= 100m²/sec² + 392.4m²/sec²= 492.4m²/sec²Final speed (v) = √492.4m²/sec²= 22.19 ≈ 22.2m/sec∴ final speed (v) = 22.2m/sec.
