I feel like I can't be myself unless I were to get a new identity and never had contact with family and friends again. How can I fix this?

I cannot afford a therapist, very sadly. Best alternatives are much appreciated. Thank you so much God bless

It is easy to develop a new persona! Example, when my company was sold, all 237 employees were fired en masse. Two years later, I ran out of money and loss my apartment and had to live in my car for 15 months. Companies do not hire 60-year-old men! To remain sane, I created the personas of actors Eddie Murphy and Robin Williams and wise-crack my days and nights in my car. Think of someone or some thing you can feed into your brain to change your personality. You will need to repeat phrases to yourself to enable you to become someone else. You can debate with yourself whether you like something or not. I automatically talk myself out of doing something often about buying something and waiting too long to act. You need to make a plan, and a Plan B should all else fail. Power-of-suggestion is mind-control where you tell yourself to stop or start some action. I programmed my brain to rise at 7 AM in college to make an 8 o'clock class. You may remember Rev. Jessie Jackson who told young blacks that, "I am somebody" and to repeat this phrase several times a day. America was at fault, and still so today, when we failed to help African-Americans to get an education after the American Civil War. Owners of plantations in the South told slaves you are free to leave, but made no way to educate blacks, so today, many robberies are done by blacks because they lack educational training to seek employment and must become thieves to exist. Work on your planned persona. Practice in front of a mirror at home when no one is around. You can do it, you are somebody. Good Luck.

First, ask yourself why you feel this way and address that answer with your therapist.
