Samhain: The origin of Halloween can be traced to this "ancient pagan festival celebrated by Celtic people over 2,000 years ago, "states The Work Book Encyclopedia. "The Celts believed that the dead could walk among the living a this time. During Samhain, the living could visit with the dead." However, the Bible clearly teaches that the dead "are conscious of nothing at all." (Ecclesiastes 9:5) Thus, they cannot contact the living.

Probably came from the flood, since it was that time of year. It was originally "all souls day" But then the church changed the name to make more converts. But Satan keeps the day every year. When the spirit persons came to heaven and went into human bodies it was like a custom.

All Hallow's Eve, the day preceeding the Solemnity of All Saint's Day (Nov. 1), and the commemoration of All Soul's Day (Nov. 2). The Catholic Church has always held as dogma (revealed truth) of the intersession of the saints in heaven, all of the canonized ones and those countless unknown and unnamed. souls who died in the grace of God. And Purgatory, where the Holy Souls await and are being purified to enter heaven, who are not ready to be in heaven yet. Halloween used to be about making a mockery of death and evil, since the Passion, death and resurrection of Christ broke the power of death and revealed the futility of the devil and evil works.

Luther erased all direct mentioning of praying for the dead and practices associated with it when he deleted the Deuterocannon from your Bible.

The connection has been lost, and Protestant Christians would abandon this day to the devil and evil, leaving a vacuum for erst-while neopagans and occultists to claim it in recent years.

It is not supported in the Bible! Halloween began as a practice of the ancient Druids in their pagan rituals. Animal and even human sacrifices were part of the most extreme forms of "celebrating." Jack-o-Lanterns were cared to ward away evil spirit, and protect people's homes. It was truly a celebration of evil. Google your question, and you will find all this.

Nowhere in the Bible is Halloween mentioned, but it's modern-day way of celebrating it is sort of indirectly supported in terms of Rom 12:21.  As it is now days a day for children (and even adults) to have a good family fun time, it's a Christian success story in overcoming evil with good.

    Update for YC.

YC, Halloween is a classic modern-day application of Rom 14 and 1Cor 8. If the day spiritually bothers you, obviously you shouldn't indulge in it (and you would be sinning if you did). And if I knew my participation spiritually bothered a "weaker" (1Cor 8:7) sibling in Christ, I too would avoid celebrating the day, at least in front of them.

The scriptures you refer to are for things all agree upon that are sinful such as attending orgies or being a mafioso.  They do NOT apply to things that SOME may find spiritually offensive (e.g. eating meat that at one time was sacrificed to an idol or celebrating certain days).  In such cases, there's disagreement as to whether the activity is participating in paganism or just enjoying a good porterhouse steak (or just having fun trick or treating when it comes to Halloween).  It depends upon the conscience of the person, and each person's conscience is different.  Where you sin in this matter is judging your brother on the matter (Rom 14:4).

The writers of the bible knew nothing of Hallowe'en, so it wasn't supported or condemned.

The Bible does not mention Halloween. However, both the ancient origins of Halloween and its modern customs show it to be a celebration based on false beliefs about the dead and invisible spirits, or demons.

While some view Halloween as harmless fun, the Bible indicates that the practices associated with it are not. At 1 Cor 10:20, 21, the Bible says: “I do not want you to be participants with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too.”

The Bible, on the other hand, does not permit merging false religious practices with the worship of God. 2 Cor 6:17

So yes it is true True Christians are not supposed to celebrate halloween.

Halloween has pagan origins. However, believers in Christ (which does not include JWs) are free to go trick-or-treating for candy if they want to. There is nothing wrong with dressing up and having fun unless one's conscience is bothered. This is a Rom. 14 issue. The more important issue that you need to be concerned with is that you are a member of a cult that leads to hell!

JW is a non-Christian cult that denies fundamental Bible doctrines such as the deity of Christ, the Trinity, salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone, bodily resurrection, and eternal torment in the lake of fire for unbelievers. There is nothing remotely "Christian" about JW. Get away from them before it's eternally too late!

Because we have all sinned against a perfectly holy and righteous God, we all deserve eternal separation from God in hell (Rom. 6:23). However, God loves us so much that He sent His only Son Jesus to die on the cross as our Substitute so we don't have to go to hell. Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose from the grave three days later (1 Cor. 15:3-4). He gives eternal life freely to anyone who simply believes in Him. No one can be saved by doing good works. Salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone (Eph. 2:8-9).

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life" (John 6:47).

It's the eve of all souls day which is in the bible.

"Halloween" is derived from 'all hallos eve.'
