Can my CA DL Be suspended again for failure to continue paying?

My license has been suspended because of a failure to appear on a fix it window tint ticket. I now owe like $580 and I was told if I start a payment plan and put down 170 that the court will notify the DMV to release the hold.

My question is if I put this 170 down and do not make my monthly payments will my license be suspended again for failure to pay?

I heard that the DMV does not suspended licenses anymore due to failure to pay.

I am out of the state right now and the earliest court date they wanted to give me was in January. I have defenses as to why I was not able to resolve this but since they wanna give me a court date so far away I feel like the fastest way is to just start a payment plan,

A lawyer wants to charge me 250 so that's not even worth it.

Yes, any time you break an agreement, the original punishment is imposed. Stop paying and it will be suspended. Never believe 'I heard....'.
