I think it would be a great idea, especially concerning making up passwords for security purposes. A simple coded password of basic binary letters and numbers can be easy for a hacker to break, but the addition of a purposeful "musical tune" embedded in the password could make a password more secure. Also, consider a way to program in note duration, such as whole notes, half notes, quarter notes as well, so that original tunes and original musical compositions become secure passwords. As in, maybe the reason why Darth Vader had his own theme music when he walked into any room was because all of the wires and circuits in the technology of his body armor would be instantly fried unless such a personal, individual, tune, note, and frequency was put out by his body armor as a body armor technology password to open the sliding doors or walk through hallways of computer banks without their frequency and amps of the wiring of the energy of such computers blitzing his own technology and wires in his body armor! So yes, this is the beginning of a great idea! Run with it and good luck!

If you are talking about qwerty input for notation  programs such as Finale, Dorico, Sibelius, etc - well, your options are about as easy as they can be.  MIDI in, scan then OCR, open an existing PDF in OCR, mouse in, number keypad in - or use the already logical layout in qwerty.  If you need to print yourself a little cheat sheet (where are double flats?  Double dots?) Then do - I can't enlarge the notation sidebar in Sibelius big enough for my geriatric eyes - so I printed a cheat sheet.  What I think you are proposing is in the same category as people who are trying to learn piano, and write the letter band in the keys.  And write in the note letters in the music. If you have something else in mind, let us know.

Source(s): Multiple degrees in Theory - been using notation softwear since the seventies.
