Would you see an allergist or an infectious disease doctor to rule out immune system problems? Or which one would be a better option?

    Neither, internal medicine, then possibly immunologist, or other depending on the screening tests done by internal med

    Not an allergist. I'd start with an endocrinologist to rule out hormone problems.
