Can a lawsuit be dismissed if a claim by the plaintiff is a lie for example if the story that a witness in their lawsuit is shown to be a ?

Lie about what they saw happen to the plaintiff?

    Sure if this piece of "evidence" is a key piece and there is not much else, that would be pretty much the end of the case.

    It should get dismissed. The judge has to decide that. Example, if someone lied that they didn't know you and that you were thus stalking them then obviously that lie is relevant to the charge of stalking and should be dismissed.

    Of course, the reason for a trial is to determine if a defendant is actually guilty.
