Is it normal to bloat for days before, during and after your period?

Update:

It's not just some minor bloating that goes away with a fart, I literally look a few months pregnant and tummy feels extremely hard.

Yes, having some abdominal bloating around your period is perfectly normal as a side effect of the hormones which trigger the menstrual cycle. Try doing some stretching exercises - like yoga - as this can help relieve the bloating.

Try to cut back on foods which are known to cause bloating and flatulence, like beans, cabbage, broccoli or artificially sweetened foods. Also stay away from salty foods which can cause fluid retention, like crisps or salted peanuts. These can make the bloating worse.

    Hope this helps.

Are you eating a lot of salty foods? Some water retention is normal, but be careful what you eat, you will make it worse.
