Can medicaid disqualify someone if money was given to another family member to help pay on they're medical debts? ?

    Depends on the size of the gift. Any gifts given within 5 years of applying for medicaid are treated as if they never happened, so the amount still counts as an asset.

    It's not clear who's paying whom, here.

    In general, if you or your family have money to spare, you should be spending that FIRST ...before you expect everyone else's family (taxpayers) to pick up the tab.
