If I have, it wasn't to the unfair detriment of another person.

Of course. We are selfish by nature. The key is to realize that can turn harmful quickly, and always be considerate to others. Think of ourselves as needed, but think of others more.
The harm comes when people see no harm at all in being selfish. Or they become full blown narcissists. It amazes me anyone would become a drug dealer, pimp, trafficker, or business criminal... doing extreme harm to society for money and power. It doesn't go anywhere. It makes them miserable, in addition to thousands or millions of other people they harm.

I really dislike the whole concept of "selfish" but sure...who hasn't? Should a person always be expected to Martyr themselves? It is a necessity to be selfish sometimes.

Yes. I have. When my husband passed away I did everything selfless. Gave my in laws everything I wanted to keep. Plus memorable photographs. You know what they did?
Kicked me out of the house.
They have gone to far lengths to try to prove I did something to their son—MY HUSBAND—-MY LOVE
Their OWN lawyer gave up on their case and sided with me. They hired another one who refused to make the claim.
I thought they would leave me alone when a court official asked me if I wanted to hand over the estate. So I did. Which means I got $0 out of his death.
Even the court official said to me, “I’m really sorry hon.” Yeah.
Within a week they filed a claim for all his insurance and estate money and even told the coroner in India not to give me a copy of my husbands autopsy report. They threatened to sue the coroner and now the coroner is filing a case against them. Saying they are creating a conspiracy and it’s financially related.
So what did I do? I selfishly prayed to God that I want justice to be shown. And asked my lawyer to do some research.
Found out they already blew my husbands money down the drain. And have a 2 million dollar debt.
Thank you to my lawyer.

Anything else I'll share except for my cowgirl. So yes... I've been selfish in that sense.
