Why a majority of politicians are corrupt?

i dont think theyre corrupt, people just make them look that way

Because Trump drained "the swamp" of murky water and replaced it with raw sewage (his family and buddies).

Many at the Federal level got into the game for a relatively easy path to power and profit. No matter their rhetoric to the contrary. 

Because power is crack and addicts will do absolutely anything to keep it.  

I would like to suggest something that you are not generally allowed to say: The politicians are corrupt because the people are corrupt.

The consumerist culture has turned citizens into consumers. Our culture generally views ''more stuff'' as the be-all, end-all of all things. ''more stuff for me'', preferably.

This is the very essence of corruption. ''What can I obtain?'' is generally the only question people ever ask themselves in such a society.
