I have a clip of video playing on a DVD player on a endless loop. How long can this go on for?

Will it hurt the DVD player or TV for it to play the clip nonstop for weeks? What happens to the machinery when you do that? I’m playing the movie on loop for an art show that is lasting around a month. Can a clip play nonstop for a month on loop?

Playing the same loop over and over for days or weeks will do no more damage to a device then playing different videos for days or weeks would.  Any device will wear out over time with usage.  Playing the same clip will not increase or decrease that wearing out.  People do this all the time.

every electronic device will fail after a certain number hours use - this is termed mbtf - mean time before failures

So the answers is yes it will increase the likely-hood of one or both devices failing. Whether this will happen within a month is impossible to predict.
