Before I left for NYC, my Dad checked my oil. I drove 6 hours to nyc on Friday and drove back Monday 6 more hours.

On Tuesday morning, I left for work and suddenly all of the lights on my dashboard came on- check oil, engine... and then I heard a rumbling noise. Then, the car died about a second layer in the middle of the road. It all happened in a couple of seconds.

I called triple a and it was towed to Pep Boys. Pep boys looked at it and said that the cap to the oil is missing and they can’t find it. They said because the cap wasn’t on the oil, oil spewed all over the engine and that’s why the car died. It is going to be taken the dealership to deal with the engine tomorrow.

I assume that my dad didn’t put the cap on tightly and it fell off during my trip or he forgot to put the cap back on. He thinks that is what happened too but can’t remember.

Anyways, how doomed am I? Will this require a new engine or major engine repairs? I think this might get really expensive

Will it hurt the DVD player or TV for it to play the clip nonstop for weeks? What happens to the machinery when you do that? I’m playing the movie on loop for an art show that is lasting around a month. Can a clip play nonstop for a month on loop?
