Question about a Stolen new PS4?

So it looks like someone may have stolen my son's new PS4 he was supposed to get for christmas , my son never unwrapped it as he was supposed to wait until christmas. I heard people saying you can track the serial number and the ip or mac address however since I never was able to find out that stuff, is there a way to track the ps4 if it is used?

    You can't track it in any fashion but if you have the serial number (some stores will scan the serial when they sell consoles) on your receipt, you can file a police report and give them that serial, so when it inevitably shows up at a pawn shop or something, they'll know.

    i would go to a computer store and ask them to track it or the police

    No, there is no way to track it, it's gone.
