Is there a DVR that can play computer video files?

I know they are for recording from tv, but say one that has a USB port/ports on the front, and a hard drive, which I could plug in a USB flash drive, transfer the video file mp4/avi, etc to it then play it on my tv?

Or maybe even transfer the file to it wirelessly via our home wireless network?

Yes there are plenty, but they can be a little fussy about video formats.  So even my 9yo DVR will play video files locally or even if they are shared over the network via DLNA/uPNP, and in some cases, if they won't playback natively, it'll play them via it's Plex app!

yes.  the specific video file formats supported vary from one dvr to the next.  some won't play any such files.  some will play multiple formats of such files

i've never had one with an internal hd or a usb port though.  not sure if that's a function ever built in. though i don't know why it couldn't or wouldn't be. why don't you check the manual of whatever this thing is
