Is anyone else bothered by the recent actions by the president Donald John Trump?

There recently was a law that could be passed that would raise the sell of tobacco from age 18 to 21 years old on a national scale. The law actually passed in the USA. I never voted for this change and I don't agree with being the odd country out on the international level. Imagine if they took away the right to purchase tobacco products to people over the age of forty years old. Forty year olds are less active, more likely to have cancer, and they have had time to find a way to stop smoking. Anyone traveling would be annoyed not to be able to purchase the product, going "cold turkey" might lead to some mental problems on some people, and with the banning of alternatives to smoking, they might resort to worse options. I don't like how rights can be taken away without voting or time to think about the consequences. What do you think about laws like this passing?

It is a known fact that cigarettes kill people. It is a known fact that the cost of cigarettes includes a very very high tax so there are many people making a lot of money off the tobacco sales. Tobacco should be illegal because of what it does to People's Health. The Surgeon General even knows how bad cigarette smoking is as there was a warning on the label.

Back when I was 18 years old and became a quote-unquote adult, I thought I knew everything. And because I was 18 years old I could do whatever the hell I wanted. It was my immaturity and lack of life experience that led me to those really stupid self-righteous thoughts.... Until I knew better.

When I was 18 I made some stupid choices. At the age of 21 I would have never made the same choices. People need time to grow up before they inhaled poisons into their body as it would give them time to realize it's a really stupid idea.

First, smoking isn't a right. This law didn't take away rights.

Second, the only way that federal laws can be passed is without voting by anyone under 25. Only Senators, who must be at least 30, and members of the House of Representatives, who must be at least 25, can vote on federal laws. It can't be done with you voting; it can only be done without you voting.

That's representative democracy. You elected Trump, and you have the choice to vote him out next year if you don't like what he's done.

This is a representative republic. As such, we do not vote directly on such issues because we have elected representatives to do so on our behalf. Contact your representative to voice your opinion.

I am bothered that  YOU are not aware that the law in question was passed by BOTH the Democrat controlled House AND the Republican controlled Senate.

I am also bothered that you think your EXCUSE for an argument is COHERENT.

Yeah. 18 year olds are adults and should put whatever the hell they want into their own bodies.

You don't get to vote on every law Not at all how it works.

What does this law have to do with President Trump? It was embedded in the spending bill ( by the Democrats by the way). So the President had a choice sign the bill or shut down the government

The President does not pass laws.
