If you fall going up icy stairs, do you fall forward or backwards?

Usually you fall forwards as your foot would slip backwards.

It could go either way.  It would depend on exactly which way your center of gravity shifted as you fell.

I would think that most of the time it would be a forward fall.  Most people lean a little to the front as they go up a set of stairs.  

Backwards......"I fell backwards going up the stairs." 

Backwards. That happened to me as a kid. It was a nasty fall to the bottom of the stairs.
