On what grounds did Lillie Langtry sue Keens Steakhouse for refusal of service? v?

She had been refused service at the then all-male restaurant. I don’t think equal rights for women was a valid argument in 1905, but she nevertheless sued and won. So how did she win?

I tried extensive searches and there is little detail about the case readily available. We know she was famous, and there is extensive information about her life. We know male-only was only at specific places and was not the norm in 1905. The case was considered extended, but was 1905-1906. We also know that it was not until Faith A. SEIDENBERG and Karen DeCrow, Plaintiffs, v. McSORLEYS' OLD ALE HOUSE, INC., Defendant in 1970 that was very key.

did go to the US Supreme Court

Equal rights was a valid argument, but usually lost in courts.
