Barter system vs global economy?

Do buying local and barter economy trends destroy national identity? conversely, does existing in an international economy require revision of national identity?

Some countries like Russia, China, Turkey, India, etc are doing the barter system to escape the US dollar. In the exiting dollar system, it's very hard to require national identity. The US policy would affect worldwide. On the other hand, Russia can survive US economic sanctions. China and India are doing the same. They can maintain national identity and their domestic policy.

err... no. Where I live I see Germans shopping in the Netherlands and Dutch go shopping in Germany. It does not affect their national/ethnic identity at all.

The only threat to our ethnic identities is the anglo-american "culture" and capitalist globalisation being shoved down our throats. Some Dutch schools near the border don't even offer German anymore, and some dutch universities where dutch students sign up for a course in dutch suddenly provide the course in English only
