Cooking potatoes in microwave. See details below.?
I always cook potatoes on a plate, in the microwave. If I spread butter on them, with dried parsley cut into the potatoes, will it be okay? Is there a best approach to this?
Advice and suggestions welcome.

I just wrap them in a paper towel. My plates are not microwaveable. I would add the butter and parsley after cooking.

I wouldn't. The butter will probably be burnt and the parsley crisp and blackened by the time the potatoes are done. Best approach is to put those things on as soon as the potatoes come out of the microwave.

I wouldn't add butter to the potatoes until AFTER you've cooked them in the microwave .. the microwave will make the butter 'boil' !

With russet potatoes baked in the conventional have a dry skin. Microwaved do not. I don't care for the dry hard skin, so I actually prefer potatoes bakes in the microwave. Put potato in the oven, for 5 minutes, let is rest for 5 minutes, squeeze, if still hard, repeat.
Cutting white potato for "roasted" potatoes -- 100% microwave isn't going to happen. You need an infrared broiler, at least partially to get that toasted taste.

Pierce with a fork in several places. Microwaves are great for cooking potatoes. Top them off AFTER cooking. Conventional ovens dry them out. Cook time varies with different microwave ovens. Experiment.
