Is common sense, religion's greatest enemy?

No. But despite the disabilities of inherited imperfection and the influence of an unrighteous world, God has made it possible for people to exercise the spirit of a sound mind. ā€œFor God gave us not a spirit of cowardice,ā€ his Word explains, ā€œbut that of power and of love and of soundness of mind.ā€ (2 Tim. 1:7) But how is it that God imparts soundness of mind to his people?

It is through his inspired Word the Holy Bible that Almighty God communicates his thoughts to man. This Word contains His perfect standard of truth and righteousness, and so it is through its pages that one becomes acquainted with the perfect mind of God, which is sound. Consequently, to whatever extent a person is able to set aside his own mind, or judgments, and accept the direction of the mind of God on matters, to that extent he will have the spirit or disposition of a sound mind.

This does not mean that oneā€™s brains undergo some sort of change, but, rather, that under the operation of Godā€™s spirit a person gradually learns to rectify the errors of his own judgment in respect to the various questions that may arise. He begins to make decisions and to act in harmony with the teachings of Godā€™s Word, which is an expression of the perfect mind of God. This brings about a change in his life, as is explained in Romans 12:2: ā€œQuit being fashioned after this system of things, but be transformed by making your mind over, that you may prove to yourselves the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.ā€

So it is by adjusting oneā€™s thinking to harmonize with the perfect standard, which is Godā€™s mind as it is expressed in the Bible and in the life of Jesus Christ, that an imperfect human can exercise soundness of mind. To illustrate: Suppose we had a clock that was a poor timekeeper and was without means of regulation. But suppose also that we had access frequently to a chronometer of absolute correctness, which showed us that our clock lost thirty minutes every twenty-four hours. We could now learn to correct our clock by resetting it from time to time. Moreover, we could learn also how to estimate its error at any point in the day.

Likewise it is with our judgment in the various matters and affairs of our life. When we measure it with the perfect standard, we find that we are either too fast or too slow, too weak or too strong, in our mental and physical emotions. And while we are not able to match the perfect example of Jesus Christ, nevertheless we are enabled to regulate our thoughts and judgments so that they conform to the perfect standard to a remarkable degree.

Therefore, a Christian exercises the spirit of a sound mind by determining what the Scriptural evidence indicates is the proper decision to make, or course of action to take. He asks himself: ā€œWhat would Christ have done in a similar situation? Is there any Bible principle that governs in this matter?ā€ He then goes to Jehovah God in prayer and asks his blessing on the course of action determined upon as a result of consulting his Word. This is the way to exercise the spirit of a truly sound mind.

No.Ā  Actually, (false) religion is the enemy of common sense.Ā  For instance the trinity doctrine which is not found in the Bible would have us believe that 1 + 1 + 1= 1.

Sadly, but most religious organizations have produced bad fruitage. Many factors have contributed to the development of so many religious groups. Some have said that the various religions all represent different ways of presenting religious truth. But a comparison of their teachings and practices with the Bible indicates, rather, that the diversity of religions is because people have become followers of men instead of listening to God.Ā

Nevertheless, to fulfill the Bibleā€™s requirements, it must be organized:

Hebrews 10:24, 25: ā€œLet us consider one another to incite to love and fine works, not forsaking the gathering of ourselves together, as some have the custom, but encouraging one another, and all the more so as you behold the day drawing near.ā€ To carry out this Scriptural command, there must be meetings that people can attend on a consistent basis. Such an arrangement encourages to express love toward others, not only concern about self.

Illustrating how to tell the difference between those who practice true religion and those who do not, the Bible says: ā€œBy their fruits you will recognize them. Never do people gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles, do they?ā€ (Matthew 7:16)

INDEED!Ā  OBVIOUSLY in the religion of Christianity created by ***ROME*** (((man))) catholic church (Revelation 17:5)!

I don't care how many CONTRADICTIONS you show today's Christians they'll STILLĀ

LIE on GOD and say "He didn't say that"Ā

When "common sense" would tell them "GOD doesn't lie" (Numbers 23:19) and is "not the author of confusion" (I Corinthians 14:33)!

For example, allegedly making TWO different ascension speeches one in Matthew 28:19 allegedly commanding men to "Go baptize with water" and ANOTHER in Acts 1:5 promising that He'd baptize us (John 1:33) with the Holy Ghost"Ā

Which are TWO baptisms although Ephesians 4:5 says "one baptism."

To put the icing on the cake, "Our examples" (I Corinthians 10:11) were "baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea" (I Corinthians 10:1-2) and NO ONE GOT WET (Exodus 14:16; 22)Ā

Yet Jesus allegedly DEVIATES from "our examples" allegedly commanding men to "GO GET WET" (Matthew 28:19)!@

What kind of SHYT is that?Ā Ā

JESUS HAS DEVIATED FROM "OUR EXAMPLES?"

    Hahahahahahahaha!

    IGNORANT!

Today's Christians are just PLAIN IGNORANT!

    No "common sense!"

Beyond a shadow of a doubt.Ā  Reality runs a close second.

On the contrary, God's plan is totally sensible, and religion (true religion at least) is the channel through which we learn and experience this ultimate reality.

If you had even basic common sense you would be able to identify which religion, but it sadly appears you are unable to comprehend any difference.

The sense of the common people is easily swayed by sound bite sentences, media information and disinformation, and by their own feelings and prejudices. Religion's greatest enemy comes from within itself, if it is merely a man-made system for trying to merit God's approval or to find a way into heaven/paradise. That is the greatest lie and the greatest enemy of true religion, which does not offer any system of salvation, because the common people try to tar all religion with that lie, such is their ignorance of the truth.

EDIT - OBITUARY FOR COMMON SENSEĀ

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense. Ā

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).Ā

His health began to deteriorate when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of doctors fired for praying with their patients; nurses reprimanded for saying only women can give birth; employees disciplined for wearing crosses-on-necklaces only worsened his condition. Ā

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or a plaster to a child - but could not inform the parents when their daughter became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.Ā

Common Sense lost the will to live as the 10 Commandments became contraband, churches became businesses, and criminals received better treatment than their victims.Ā

Common Sense finally gave up the will-to-live when schools taught that boys can have periods, and girls started skipping school because they were afraid of using gender-neutral toilets.Ā

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. He is survived by three stepbrothers; I Know My Rights, Someone Else is to Blame, and I'm A Victim.Ā

Only a person with no common sense would agree with that.
