Wisdom teeth removal?

Im getting my wisdom tooth taken out next week, but I’m really nervous. It’s only the one tooth at the top, will this mean that I won’t experience as much pain? I’m also being put under local anaesthetic, I know I won’t be asleep but will I feel anything and will I be all crazy after it like the videos you see on YouTube.I also work, and was wondering whether I need to take days off? I’ve took the Friday off because that’s the day I’m getting it done, but will I need to take maybe Monday off too? What should I expect the afermath to be like?

If you’re only getting the local anesthetic, then you won’t have the crazy reactions like ppl on YouTube bc you won’t be put to sleep. It’s possible though, you might have laughing gas and be silly, though. I think you would be fine for Monday, as long as everything goes well the worst thing will probably be that you might just not be able to eat certain foods.

Back in my early 30s I had to have both wisdom teeth on one side removed and I was so scared. I just knew I was going to suffer the tortures of the damned. I arranged to miss work for a full week. I stock piled painkillers, getting them any way I could.

When I finally had the teeth extracted, it was no big deal. I missed work the day of the procedure. I took off the next day too because I was so sure there would be enormous pain, but that enormous pain never came. I took some Tylenol and was fine for work the second day.

Of course that's no guarantee that things are going to be easy for you. But it is a lesson in not going crazy being afraid of something that may never happen.

Local anesthetic won't make you crazy. All it does is numb the area. You will feel pressure when they pull and perhaps hear some crunching but that's all. It doesn't take very long. You'll want to stay quiet over the weekend, but you shouldn't need to take Monday off. It's really not that bad. I had all 4 impacted ones taken out under local, 2 on one side one week, and the other 2 a couple of weeks later on Fridays and was back to work on Monday. Soft foods for a couple of days and you're good to go.

You will need to take days off, as youll barely be able to swallow much for a few days afterwards. You wont even know what hit you-one second youll be laying down in the chair, and next thing you know the procedure is all done and youre ready to go home. Thats what happened to me. I remember the dentist saying "now youre gonna start to feel a little bit funny" and i remember thinking "i dont feel anything yet" then the next thing I know its time to go home and theres gauze in my mouth. you wont be super loopy, youll just feel tired and completely relaxed. you shouldnt be like those people in the youtube videos unless youre feeling extra silly and if they put you under a lot of anesthesia. the aftermath will be painful-however they should provide you with strong pain killers to go home with. youll have to keep the gauze in your mouth for a while at first, but can be removed to eat/drink. it will hurt pretty bad when the medicine wears off, so try to take it often enough that you dont experience too much discomfort.
