Cooperation, fortune 500?

I've never grown a beard before but id like to do so, working around a lot of customers daily, I'm always 100% as professional as they come, but now that id like to start growing facial hair, do I need to just let it grow until it patches in, or do I need to keep it regularly trimmed. I ask this question in a professional manner, because I would prefer having not to have any extra conversations with my  supervisor.

Thanks

Keep it professionally trimmed. Patchy is not professional at all.

You need to ask your supervisor (or colleagues with beards) two questions:

    1. Any rules about facial hair explicitly stated in the employee handbook?

    2. Would you expect any negative response from the growth of a beard?

Some businesses, if you have a beard, you arent getting promoted (totally depends on the profession).  They may not prohibit them, but you wont get on the fast track for management.

Does your employer have an employee handbook?  Does it have a facial hair policy in it?

If not, do any of your coworkers have facial hair similar to what you would like to grow?  If not, that's a hint.

Or, you could do what most people would do and simply ask your supervisor a very easy question.

Yeah, your going to need to talk to your supervisor about this but so long as you keep it neat and it looks ok, it'll probably be fine - but check with your surpervisor.

No one here knows what your employer's policy is.

"I would prefer having not to have any extra conversations with my  supervisor"   Better to ask voluntarily from the get-go than have your supervisor call you in for an involuntary sit-down about it.

If you can't/won't bother to communicate and find out the answer to your question from your employer, I just don't know what to tell you.
