what made the helisopter, fall down" is fog thick, but what made kobes helisopter malfunction?

    According to what I have been seeing on the news it was poorly constructed and some of it had to due with thick fog.

    It probably didn't malfunction.  More likely the pilot was trying to fly under the fog/cloud bank and ended up flying into the ground by mistake.
