Is it normal for women to experience pain during sex?
I know it’s a symptom of many issues like endometriosis. But I don’t have many female friends I can ask and I could really use some advice. I told my doctor about it once and she recommended more foreplay, which hasn’t been helping. Pretty much it hurts a lot at first. After a while the pain subsides a bit, but I still don’t think it feels right.

No, it's not normal and using lubricant may help.

If he has a large penis, like 6-7 inches, he could be hitting your cervix which is causing the pain. Does it still hurt if he inserts just 4-5 inches?

That could all depend on the size of the penis, or the roughness the driver of the penis is driving his penis and if he is driving a big penis recklessly he could be putting major pain in your kitty. If it is hurting you to have sex he should be as gentle as he can with you. Do you think he tries to be a good lover to you or that he is just interested in what he wants.
I think you are afraid it is going to hurt and you tighten up which would make it hurt even more and I don't think you are lubricated enough when you start. He needs to kiss you a lot before he starts to do anything, now if he isn't a good kisser then that won't do you any good. He could rub your body gently then start rubbing your clitty lightly also. Tell him to use a lubricated condom also, that should help some 2.

You have tight muscles and need a lot of lube. This should improve over time when the area stretches.

What the smiley face person said. Also, it could be due to size. Vaginal walls are muscles, which is why a lot of women will do something called kegels. A kegel is a type of exercise that tightens the walls so you feel it more and the man gets more pleasure from the tight pressure. Every vagina is different and some women could be tighter than others. This could cause temporary pain until the muscles loosen. Regular sex would keep the muscles loose, so the next time you wouldn't get that pain. (Exercise in general can tighten muscles too like bike riding.) After a while, they go right back to being tight again. If this is the case, my suggestion is either more sex, or take it slow and allow the walls to stretch without forcing it quickly.

If you’re new to it, it’s common but not necessarily a normal part of sex. Technically, sex shouldn’t ever hurt except for maybe the first time. However, when we’re new we might not do the correct amount of foreplay, or we might be bashful about artificial lube. After about a few times, it really shouldn’t hurt. Your body should be used to it.
Any pain past maybe the first 3-5 times is honestly either an anatomical issue (vaginismus, endometriosis) or not enough wetness.
