The people who wrote the bible didn't know about things like 'viruses', and their 'all knowing god' apparently didn't think the germ theory of disease was worth mentioning - thereby condemning countless millions to suffer and die.

Meanwhile people thought (and some still think) that disease is caused by 'sin', and that outbreaks (as well as natural disasters) are the result of 'gods righteous punishment' or some such nonsense.

'Thou shalt not eat bats for breakfast or directly associate with those who do, or thou shalt surely die."

I'm paraphrasing of course, but Torah does basically state this and contact with raw blood of any kind is still strongly prohibited in the New Testament era within ordinances delivered by the Apostles, called the 'essentials,' (Acts 15:28-29, 16:4). These later became the basis of all ecclesiastical Church law and Church canon law.

He wants people to die of whatever diseases are spread by NOT washing hands!

Why ELSE would He have told the disciples NOT to bother with hand-washing before eating? (Matthew 15:20)

It's almost as if He was NOT there on the day of Creation when viruses, germs, and parasites were created.
