Can a car be taxed in a different name to the name on the V5C logbook.?

I recently bought a car for my fiancée as a surprise and when filling in the V5C I filled everything in in my own name as I couldn’t obviously get her to do it being a surprise, so as to transfer responsibility to taxing the car and being the registered keeper to myself.

I’ve since insured the car under her name, telling the insurance company that I am the registered keeper, but when coming to tax the car, I’ve taxed it under her name. Will this cause a problem when the DVLA find out that the car is taxed under a different name to the logbook?

Cars aren't taxed "in a name". They only care that the tax is paid.

Yes, the discrepancy will be noted.
