How can enhance the structure of a basic/cheap kite?

I got a cheap little kite as a prize from an arcade and tested it at the park with my little sister on a moderately windy day. I was surprised it actually flew, but in between strong gusts of wind, the kite would end up folding in half and flop to the ground. I’m wondering if I can attach some supports to help it fly better. I am attaching a picture of the kite up close. Hopefully you can see that it has a tunnel opening on each side and flat in the middle.
