IF I think I might be unsafe going outside because there is coronavirus in my town can i tell my employer that i can't come into work?

    Yes , you can...and he / she can tell you you have quit your job ,

    which means no unemployment case .

    You can try, but you have no legal right to skip work and not face discipline at this point.

    Sure. But when you are fired you may have to go outside when you start looking for a a new job.

    You can "tell" your employer anything.  Whether they accept your coronavirus excuse or not will be up to them.

    Probably not; in places where COVID-19 is an issue they close down areas but I don't think you can necessarily just call in. If it's a serious risk for your area then talk to your employer, but otherwise I doubt you'll get much traction.

    Stop being panicked over it. Thee's a 2% death rate on it, and the standard flu has a 1% death rate. The people dying are those with compromised immune systems, old age, or the very young. The rest of us 98% are fine after sleeping off the effects.

    It's not like the Spanish flu back in 1918 which had a 22% death rate.
