Senior citizens, why are some hiding behind private accounts and anonymous answers?

It makes me, from past experiences on here, not to trust those. I am looking, but how can one get to know someone?

Update:

Thanks for your answers.  Believe me, I know all about the trolls, that's why the 'honest' folks left and joined private groups. I was hoping to find a couple of 'real' people to add to mine.  My mistake...sorry.

Insecurity is the main reason why.

This site is for trolls only. It is the hardest place on the internet to get a clear answer and chatting is not allowed. It’s bottom of the barrel here and if you don’t like it too bad because you’re a part of that bottom just as much as the rest of these losers.

Source(s): Death is the only way out.

If you don't like the answers or don't trust them that's your problem.

This is a question and answer forum, not a lonelyhearts.

Unfortunately it is plagued by trolls, who don't like serious contributors.

This site is not for you to get to know someone.  It's purely about asking and answering - it's not about chatting. If you have nothing to ask you don't need to do that, if you have an answer to give, when someone else does ask, then help them out with an answer.  You don't need to know who that person is.

    > how can one get to know someone?

that's what chatboxes and facebook are for.

Yahoo!Answers is about questions and answers - and not just any questions, but only questions that someone in the future might want to know the answer to.

Some people use the anon-feature to prevent people who know them from finding out what they ask.

Too many others abuse it to hide the fact that they are not really seeking knowledge but just want to troll or repeat the same question over and over

Have you ever been stalked here?

have you ever logged in to find 24 violation notices in your inbox.?

That's why long  standing,  good users eventually are forced to close their accounts.

Earn a place on a leaderboard, and it all but paints a target on your back.

    Why?

Because if your name now appears, that means you knocked someone OFF.

and now that person hates you, and wants to get you suspended, so their name floats up another notch and re-appears on the Leaderboard.

I've had a stalker here for the last 4 years straight......but as soon as I made the P&S Leaderboard.............jesus christ........it was like someone opened the stalker floodgates.

You get to "know" people by reading their answers.......and seeing the kind of stuff they post and how they talk to people.

You don't need access to my account to "know" me.

if I opened my account NOW........every stalker on this site, would be reporting my every answer left and right trying to get me suspended.

It's a sport for them............take down the top users.

I'm mostly anonymous here because I've angered someone and he's reporting my answers.
