Diluting sweetened almond milk?

I'd like to make colcannon but got milk that is too sweet by mistake.

I tried mixing water but wasn't totally satisfied with how it came out.

Do any cooks have any tips for me. Please?

    Omit the milk, use broth and some extra butter. 

    I often make mashed potatoes using broth instead of milk if I do not have any on hand.

    Non sweetened almond milk is available. The sweetened stuff you got will not work, diluted or not.

    Next time use unsweetened almond milk. It is available in most major  GB supermarkets except Lidl, I have some myself.
