Period has been on for 3 weeks?

My period started 3 weeks ago, February 28th to be exact. The first few weeks I’ve had a lot of blood clots but this week not so many. My periods have been irregular for a couple of years now. I was taking birth control to help regulate them but I stopped taking them in December. I haven’t had a period since December, then out of nowhere BOOM a 3 week period!! My gynecologist didn’t say anything about me having PCOS, endometriosis, or anything.... she just subscribed me birth control and to lose weight.... Any idea on why my period is going on so long??? It doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon 😩

My period used to be the same as you. Never regular, some months next to nothing, some months hell.I was also prescribed bc to help me get more regular. The one time when I had a period that was like a flash flood, I ran to the doctor as I thought I was dying. He told me that with irregular women, it can hold off for a while and then come at you like a hurricane, but it will stop eventually and may never happen again. Hopefully that will be the case for you too.

After stopping BC your hormones have gone into overdrive. Once you have a couple of weeks of BC it should regulate again.
