i am legally insane and thus retired from working.
It only takes one really bad string of events in even as little as one day to crush a man.
Take away something they value very highly (often time person, possession or some school of thought) and make certain they understand they'll never get it back, than repeat few more times until most of the top of their values and connections are shattered.
that'll do it.
