There's tons of information.
The disease causes viral pneumonia.
80% of people recover easily without any kinds of hospitalization. You get flu symptoms for a week or two, you get a little short of breath and you feel better.
The remaining 20% go to the hospital. Half of them go to the ICU, some of them require sedation and intubation. About 2% of people who catch it, end up dying. Most people who die of this disease are elderly or sick. It's extremely rare for a young, healthy person to die of it.

actually there are a lot of information about COVID-19 but probably too much.. by comparison the SARS Coronavirus outbreak and the Swine Flu outbreak were mentioned 30-35 million times in the mainstream media compared to the COVID-19 (or its previous names that are no longer in official use Novel, Wuhan and Bat coronavirus) that was mentioned 1.1 billions times between January 2020 to early March 2020..`
`
and no.. it is nothing like the 2 illnesses that you have mentioned.. `
`
COVID-19 coronavirus, is no more dangerous than the previous coronavirus outbreaks.. COVID-19 coronavirus, has about the same transmission rate of the SARS coronavirus in 2007 and the MERS coronavirus in 2013.. the weird fact that COVID-19 coronavirus 2019-2020 outbreak has the fatality rate of 3.4% compared to SARS coronavirus 2007-2015 outbreak that killed 9.6% of its victims and compared to MERS coronavirus 2013-2014 outbreak that claimed the lives of 34.6% of its victims.. what made COVID-19 so successful are mostly human factors.. #1 the Chinese local government downplaying the seriousness of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (that was renamed COVID-19) and censoring any news about the outbreak from July to December 2019.. followed by governments around the world who also downplayed its seriousness: the US government, the UK government and many others, and simply could not understand how fast and dangerous that the current coronavirus outbreak can be..
#2 holidays.. from the Chinese New Year (late January 2020) that saw the largest human migrations on Earth in any given year (to many Asian countries, it is Christmas, New Year, Thanksgiving and Halloween all lumped into one long holiday - and to many people it is the only holiday they'd take in the entire year to travel or go home).. to the recent Spring break and the spring-breakers who refused to stay in home and instead choose to go to beaches and to parties further insuring the COVID-19 spread.. the problem is.. young people can get COVID-19 and they can remain asymptomatic (without symptoms) for 5-14 days which is enough time for them to return home and infect others at home, also (according to the CDC) 40% of hospital admissions related to COVID-19 are young people between the age of 20-54 years old, and about 12% of ICU admissions are people at the age of 20-44 years old.. yes, the elderly (the boomers) make up most of the cases, but young people in their 20s and in their 30s can die from COVID-19.. ONLY an idiot would believe that young people are immune from COVID-19.. however, we rarely see serious cases of COVID-19 under the age of 12 years old, but they do get the ILI influenza-like illness..
the SARS, MERS and COVID-19, share the symptoms of the Common or the Seasonal Flu (not the Common Cold which is a different set of symptoms).. 80% of COVID-19 cases would develop Flu-Like symptoms (or ILI influenza like illness), which is basically similar to the worst case of flu: being sick and miserable for 7-14 days (upto 21 days), Fever, Cough, some sore throat and maybe running nose.. those people can be treated at home with simple remedies like Paracetamol (Tylenol, Panadol), cough syrup, drink plenty of fluids and eat a lot.. and if the person feels nauseated with poor appetite, divide the 3 meals a day into 6-9 meals a day with much smaller portions..
you should ONLY test yourself for COVID-19 if you have the ILI or SARI symptoms.. about 14% of COVID-19 positive cases would be hospitalized for dehydration, exhaustion, undernourishment and/or for severe ILI symptoms.. they often require IV drips, tube feeding, some oxygen delivered via masks, and managing other medical problems like Asthma if any..
SARI or severe acute respiratory illness, is what kills people with COVID-19.. about 4% of the cases would be admitted to the intensive care (ICU, CCU, and rarely PICU).. there are 3 serious complications associated with COVID-19: #1 atypical pneumonia, #2 lung fibrosis, and #3 worsening other conditions..
typical pneumonia are caused by bacteria, and they are relatively easy to treat and diagnose.. atypical pneumonia are caused by organisms that are not bacteria and some strains of endobacteria (like tuberculosis), and they are harder to treat and diagnose..
COVID-19-related-pneumonia makes up most of the SARI cases in COVID-19.. when a coronavirus enters our respiratory trace, they infect the inner lining of the nose, throat and all the way to the lungs (aka the mucosa).. they assimilate the mucosa to produce more viruses and to produce more mucous (nasal and throat discharge) that would be carrying the virus via coughing and sneezing to other people.. but when the virus reaches the lungs, the mucous production is so high that the lungs get drowned with its own secretions.. this is where doctors try a combination of antiviral medications; and the first promising protocol is the 'Thai Cocktail' that was concocted by doctors from Thailand (a combination of 2 anti-HIV medications and an anti-flu medication for 5 days).. the Thai Cocktail is meant to manage the symptoms of the pneumonia and bring its worst symptoms down within 48 hours (it is not meant to cure COVID-19 altogether), the virus would still follow the 7-14 days (upto 21 days) rule.. and doctors are still tweaking the Thai Cocktail, for example adding Anti-Malarial medication Choloroquine and Antibiotics, Azithromycin with mixed results.. the problem with Chloroquine that it is extremely toxic and had caused deaths to people who self-medicate.. `
`
lung fibrosis is when the lung becomes full of scars (like the scars on the skin) from repeated exposure to the illness - this happens to people who are cured from COVID-19 only to be discharged back to the same environment that they got the illness in the first place.. like the Chinese Ophthalmologist (eye doctor) who was the whistle-blower who told the entire world about the seriousness of the New Coronavirus outbreak in late December 2019.. he was 34 years old who saw too many cases of COVID-19 while his local government was trying hard to keep the outbreak censored.. and finally, if you have other medical conditions, like COAD, Asthma, cancers, heart conditions or under treatment with immunosupressive meds or with Chemotherapy, the likelihood of survival decreases a lot..`
`
technically, there is no cure to viral infections.. the antiviral medications we have are meant to slow-down the virus until our own immune system mount enough strength to fight off the infection.. even in deadly viral infections like the Rabies, the Milwaukee Protocol that involves strong antiviral medications, is only meant to slow down the Rabies for 1-2 weeks of active neurological symtpoms until the immune system is strong enough to fight off the Rabies..
vaccines is meant to accelerate the immune response.. like showing the picture of a criminal at the airport, providing target-training for new recruits, and setting up punching bags and other training equipment in the gym..
at the moment, there is a COVID-19 vaccine currently in phase I of human trials.. the best estimates is that we would have a viable COVID-19 vaccine in 18 months (starting from January 22nd 2020).. why the number 18?!.. because it took 18-20 months for us to have the SARS coronavirus vaccine and the MERS coronavirus vaccine back in 2007 and 2013..
President Trump had promised that a vaccine for COVID-19 would be available by November 2020 that surprised the people who are conducting the human trials; but it is not all impossible.. the Zika virus vaccine took 7 months to be developed and made available, and by the time it was made available, much of the Zika virus outbreak was gone..`
`
which hopefully is the same with COVID-19.. so stay safe.. follow YOUR local public health announcements - and not some guy over social media.. and all the best..

AIDS is spread through sex (especially anal sex) and sharing dirty needles. COVID-19 is spread by being nearby an infected person. It spreads much more easily than the common flu.

1 in 5 people who get COVID-19 in the USA will get so sick they will require hospitalization. 1 in 50 people who get COVID-19 will die. People will usually recover in 4 to 6 weeks.

Worst case scenario 4% of the earth's population dies, but it will mostly be boomers so that's OK
