5G sim, contract phone virgin media?
I have purchased a phone and reading further into it I think it is only a 3G phone not here as yet, could I have a problem

No. Although the SIM will be 5G compatible, your phone will just use it to access 3G services if that is truly all your phone is capable of (all new smartphones on sale are currently capable of at least 4G).
