    The next number is 13, or -6893, or 3.145, or whatever you want.

    The hidden part of these types of questions is to find a "simple" rule for the sequence. But who's to say what "simple" means? There are an infinity of rules that fit those four numbers, and each one of them has a DIFFERENT value for the next number.
