What can happen if you are pulled over and don't have a registration for your car? In Michigan.?
Hello, I am wondering if anyone knows what legal actions could happen if I get pulled over in my car and dont have the registration in Michigan.
Car is 100% legal, registration is up to date, plate and tags are good, just cleaned the car out and my kids were helping and somewhere along the lines the registration disappeared, and I am moving the car to my inlaws for a couple of weeks. I can order a new registration but wouldn't be in on time, because I need to move it tomorrow, and all DMV offices are closed at the moment.
Long story short car is legal need to move it about 40 miles 1 way and its mainly back roads but I do pass by 2 police stations on the way, so If i was pulled over what legal actions could they take?

Chances are, nothing. Because they will pull you up on the computer and see everything is up to date. And, chances are you won't be pulled over to begin with.
If you get a ticket you take your registration to court and they will drop it.

It is the standard guidance of any state, plus the current situation added.
1) Do you have a valid driver's license? That is important.
2) What are the chances to be pulled over? Is everything physically in order with the car and driving legally? If yes, little concern.
3) They can check your license and registration and if you are the owner of record, it is only an administrative violation of not having the paper in-hand. If the police ticket you, and you get a copy, judges dismiss the charge anyway, or make it a very small fine.
4) At this time, courts do not deal with these minor issues and police have more major concerns. The police understand the covid-19 status. They would probably not hold you even if stopped.
Can you go online and have a method to print screen, to order a new copy and show you did? That would be more than enough.
There are far too many other concerns to let this bother you.
Do what is necessary definitely. Do what is reasonably possible and available as second. Don't worry about what is out of your control.
