The reason artificial "birth control" is forbidden is that these products all contain a "backup" ingredient that causes an early abortion when the product fails to prevent conception!

So you're not aware that the vast majority of "birth control" involves abortifacients. Let's add that to the list of what you're unaware of. Ever figure out which of those 6 guys was your real rather?

    Absolutely.

I find the incredulous notion that an immortal soul is spontaneously generated at the point of egg cell fertilisation to be difficult to understand as it is.

Going further and believing even the sperm and egg cells themselves are spiritually precious is laughable. The human body automatically destroys these cells on a regular basis. If the male body obliterates millions of unused sperms on a daily basis, I do not understand at all what difference it makes if some of them end up dying in a condom instead. Same goes for egg cells, which will die unused with or without pill intervention.

It all stems back to hangovers from much more primitive times when the function of sexual reproduction was understood mostly through magic and mysticism. Some religions just haven't caught up.

But let's face it, religious sexual controls are often less about offending god by spilling your seed. They're more about social control and trying to dictate what people can and can't do with their bodies in the name of bronze age morality.

Absolutely. Free birth control has been shown to reduce the need of abortion by over 95%.
