What's taking up space on my hard drive?
I have an Acer mini laptop. I do not save videos, music, pictures or large files on there. Nothing under 50 KB. The largest programs installed are Microsoft Office which is 2.09 GB); Norton Security, 1.04 GB; google chrome with 447 MB; Intel PROset/wireless software, 518 MB, and VLC media player (168 MB). Everything else is under 50 MB. I constantly use disk clean up and Total PC Cleaner and still end up with 3.39 GB of 28.5 GB as shown when I click on the C drive. What else could be taking up space? Is there a hidden software or program installed?

That's not a laptop, that is a glorified tablet. Your windows install takes up the vast majority of it.
If it doesn't have a slot to add an SD card, this is as good as it gets.

Is there a slot for a micro or std sd card? If so, perhaps that would increase your storage capacity

You should get an SSD of 500GB, 19 times larger storage. Then you will have no problems.
Unfortunately, since that tiny drive isn't a drive at all, but chips soldered to the motherboard of that "Acer mini-laptop", you cannot improve it.
That is what you got when saving a bit by buying a "mini-laptop" instead of the real thing.
