Because that’s how a democratic republic works. You elect congress to vote in your best interest. The big issue is that not enough people vote. Especially in the mid terms.

Americans cannot "Impeach" anybody.
Only the Legislature can be involved with Impeachment. And that only to the Highest levels, and appointed Judges.
The only ability to remove (other than the few states with Recall laws) is at the voting polls.
Next Best, is to deluge the legislature members with calls, letters, and emails. Hoping that the member might be swayed from their "I have a Mandate from the people" ideas.
The people need to exercise their power over the Legislatures. Vote EVERYONE who is "in" "OUT", show who has the power.Power to the People, when and where it counts.

Why not the supreme court? (Any judges appointed by the sitting president would have to recuse themselves.)

Amen.
Because it's Congress who holds that duty, though.

Cause we elect people to represent us.

The people did more or less vote, it's called representational democracy (i.e. you get to vote for the people who make the decisions - choose carefully).
